About the Role

The work involves responsibility for performing skilled mechanical repair work on heavy automotive and construction

equipment, including hydraulic systems. Under supervision, an employee in this class performs skilled mechanical repair

and maintenance work on heavy automotive and construction equipment that operate on gasoline drive power. The Heavy

Equipment Mechanic I is differentiated from the second level in that the work performed is primarily on internal

gasoline combustion system and not on unique operating systems as found in heavy bulldozers, power shovels, extractors
