About the Role

Crane Operator (AMPES) Under supervision, operates, maintains, and makes such minor repairs as are necessary to ensure

continued operation of cranes, gantries, shovels, draglines, and like equipment, using motive power except steam for the

Staten Island Ferry; May perform work upon floating barges or derricks. Operates and is responsible for the operation of

all types of assigned equipment, except those powered by steam, in a safe and efficient manner. Inspects, checks, and

tests components of assigned equipment using any motive power except steam, prior to operation. Prepares assigned

equipment, except those powered by steam, for New York City Department of Buildings inspection and demonstrates and
